I watch the news and curse newsreaders,
For being attractive bottom feeders,
Who plumb the depths of life’s despair,
And serve it up to us out there.
News for breakfast, News for lunch,
We even get some news for brunch.
Time for adverts – light relief,
But quelle surprise – more T.V. grief
I wonder if ever an autocue,
Got stuck, blacked out, went askew,
They’d tell us something nice instead,
Maybe ‘Elvis isn’t dead’.
But no, news is perpetual,
It turns us into vegetables,
And so, no more, let’s power down,
And head on out to ‘Happy Town’
